Probably better known for its ceramic particulate filters, NGK Insulator is enjoying strong demand for its filters because vehicle emission standards are tightening globally. Less well known is its NAS battery division that has been shipping utility-scale batteries since 2002. JA Solar is a Chinese solar panel manufacturer with a reasonable amount of gearing and a buyback. With China poised to install 81 gigawatts of solar by 2020 (the world today has 139 gigawatts), there is plenty of earnings visibility. Covanta is the largest listed player in Energy-From-Waste (EfW). It provides a growing dividend that we expect will exceed US$1 in 2015 and a history of buybacks to supplement shareholder returns.
