Great article Tim. The optimists are simply not considering two very important issues: (1) the lack of a short-term solution to the underlying challenge of the virus, with only adaptations possible without a miracle, and (2) what happens after this to our economy over the medium and long term, and the real and very substantial problems facing our economies and real productivity and wealth creation. There is little reason to be optimistic about general profit growth. Even before the pandemic, real growth was muted. After the pandemic, it will likely be even worse.
