Their #5 pick is stock specific and is Netflix - the streaming TV service which is starting to make a splash in Australia. The stock is up 92% for the year, however, for us the real story is about how the impact this has on domestic media businesses as Netflix rolls out in Australia. The article says: "One of the big stories around its tremendous growth; the company has been racking up new subscribers in the US and abroad, and about a third of the company’s subscriber base is international." Russell Muldoon from Montgomery recently highlighted (VIEW LINK) the traction Netflix has already gained (over 1 million subscribers in Australia). He also highlights the challenge posed to three domestic media companies who are faced with yet another competitive threat. The big issue here is not just about an emerging/disruptive competitor, the companies are now wrestling against a Gorilla with a market cap larger than Yahoo!
