The SPI is up 23 points, indicating the local market will rise at the open after the US stock market gained overnight while safe-haven gold and Treasury bonds went lower. Investors have largely shrugged off the first partial shutdown of the US government in 17 years on bets that it would be short-lived. The Dow is up 0.41% while the S&P500 closed 0.80% higher.
