As the US government heads to either resolution or anarchy (yet to be determined), the business world marches on. After all, bungling politicians aren't going to stop consumers from buying goods and services. That being said, the world's most valuable company made quite the statement today. Apple (AAPL) hired Burberry's CEO Angela Ahrendts to head up retail operations. Ahrendts, the first woman on AAPL's executive team, will take charge of the company's 400 retail outlets and the online store. Her challenge is oversee international expansion of retail stores as well find a way for Apple products to retain their high-end allure. It's been a year since Apple last had a retail chief, so this is clearly an important hire. Not to mention, Apple stores are one of the few major advantages the company has over competitors. such as Google (GOOG).
