Currency update: The AUD was trading at USD 0.9090 this morning, slightly north of Friday's levels. Financial markets finished on a relatively quiet note on Friday night after some large moves earlier in the week. While both US and European equities finished the week modestly higher, they were mixed on Friday. European equities generally rose, while US equities finished the session lower after the S&P reached a record intraday high early in the session before retreating. In Australia this week, there are no key data releases. In currency markets, all of the majors remained in tight ranges, while a small reversal in both CNY and CNH supported sentiment. Today sees the 'flash' HSBC China manufacturing PMI. This is one of the highlights of the week and is amid accumulating evidence growth has slipped back markedly in recent months. Later today we'll get the PMI reading out of the Eurozone.
