Fixed income securities over term deposits. I didn't see this one coming so soon but we're certainly not complaining. Money is cheap, confidence is returning, but what about those investors that have Term deposits and rely on the interest rates to supplement their pensions? I say: why roll the term deposits, when you can get access to fixed-income securities, giving you 300bp-600bp above the RBA cash rate -paid quarterly? Last night, US stocks surged (Dow Jones up 280 points), fuelled by hopes of a deal on Greek debt and by rising oil prices. The S&P 500 is up near 2% over the past two sessions after suffering its biggest monthly drop in a year in January. Commodities were once again higher last night with Crude Oil up another 5.55% to $52.32/barrel, Gold down 1.0% to $1,260/oz. and Copper up 3.90% to $2.58/lb.
