Kerr Neilson remains cautious on investing in Australia and explains what gives rise to his concerns. What troubles me is the predilection of people here to remain invested in Australia. Yet people are eager to take their holidays elsewhere because of the high Australian dollar. So on one hand they take advantage of the higher currency with their holiday but not with their financial assets. We have a mandatory saving scheme so there is a large pool of assets looking for a home, yet many investors remain invested in Australia. There are better valuations elsewhere. While many see China on the nose, the country is trading on 8.5 times its earnings yet the Aussie market is trading on 15 times its earnings.
