Low Interest Rates Starting to Yield Results? We wrote earlier this month a note on our website explaining the behavior of investors in response to the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) decision to cut rates. This week our focus is on the anecdotal evidence which we are seeing that suggests that the strategy might finally be starting to yield results. The RBA's main objective is to target inflation within the 2-3% band and so when it feels like economic growth is weak enough to threaten inflation falling outside of this band, it cuts rates. We've been monitoring the commercial and residential property markets very closely to see the inflationary impacts from low rates. Esho Property Group has noticed a significant shift to the commercial property market over the past few months, particularly in March, as self-directed investors start to move cash out of term deposits and stock market securities and into higher yielding direct investments.
