Market Update: Despite a strong rebound in the US equity markets overnight the Australian share market struggled to get any direction as regional holidays kept activity quiet. The S&P/ASX200 was down 0.1% at 5,182 points. Falls in commodity prices last night weighed on resource companies. BHP and RIO were down 0.6% and 0.3% respectively. The major banks were mixed with ANZ flat while the other three were falling between 0.2% to 0.5%. The AUD is trading lower at US$0.8760. The SPI was down 0.2% at 5,130 points on the Sydney Futures Exchange.
