Overnight Update: The US stock market rallied on Tuesday, sending the S&P 500 to an intraday record. Treasury prices sank, sending yields higher. The dollar rose against the yen. Gold prices fell as the metal lost some of its perceived safe-haven attraction after Russian troops participating in military exercises in western and central Russia were ordered to return to their bases. Oil futures pulled back sharply, after closing at a more than five-month high a day earlier. Following a sharp prior-day loss, UK stocks moved firmly higher on Tuesday as tensions between Ukraine and Russia appeared to ease. London: BHP up 1.15% Rio up 0.93%. New York BHP up 0.72% Rio up 0.88%. Base metal prices pushed higher across the complex.
