Ownership matters releases a comprehensive study of costs, structure and practices in the Aust ECM Market - Smaller companies and non-underwritten offerings have emerged as the most expensive types of raisings, prompting a call for companies and larger shareholders to consider alternatives other than investment banks to lower the costs. The study, by institutional governance adviser Ownership Matters, also finds that the types of capital raising that are the most unfair to existing shareholders - placements and non-renounceable entitlement offers - still account for the largest share of raisings.
