Switzerland Really Did It. Despite some argy bargy between the Fed express and Stan the Man - for the first time in 100+ years they won the Davis Cup. As to whether they will vote YES to this weeks Gold referendum - the polls suggest it's unlikely - though if Roger comes out in support it might help - unlike Andy Murray stating he supported Scottish independence. In reality - the whole thing could end up being a bit of a damp squib for the gold market - as it stands - the SNB aren't buying gold, if the vote is No, then what really changes? A yes vote on the other hand will alter perceptions of the gold market - but it's unlikely to occur - hence we could see a little extra volatility leading into the weekend (Australian time) and early next week - but nothing to get too excited about. All up - if gold stays where it is for the next month - it gets a pass mark for 2014 - especially in light of plunging commodities and USD strength
