Andrew McAuley, Chief Investment Officer at Credit Suisse, says that investors should not underestimate the role that principles around sustainability will play in markets going forward. A sign of the shift is that the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund has said it will exclude all fossil fuel companies from their portfolio. The irony being that Norway’s wealth was built on the back of their significant oil reserves. McAuley adds that demand for sustainable investment practices is being driven by investors and is forcing every listed company globally to consider how they address environmental, social and governance principles.
