A US rate hike has the potential to upset equity markets, as we saw in late 2015. So what can we expect going forward? Following the Fed’s ‘fizzer’ at Jackson Hole, markets are now looking to data for guidance on the direction of rates. The chance of a September hike, as suggested by Fed Fund Futures, has already drifted back to 32% from 42% since the symposium. Looking further out, we asked five contributors what the expected from US rates over the next few years.
