3 tips to make Livewire work harder for you this reporting season
Reporting season is kicking into gear, and the company updates will start flowing freely. It’s a busy time and while in theory companies have the whole month of August to report, most results tend to be concentrated into the final fortnight. This presents the challenge of tracking your investments while remaining on the lookout for potential new ideas.
Many of you will have an established system, but I thought I’d share some tools and tips to make Livewire work harder for you this reporting season.
Tip #1 – Check the Reporting Season Series Page
All reporting season-related content will appear under a dedicated Series page. To access this, click on the ‘Series’ tab in the website header and then navigate to the far right of the Series options and click on ‘Reporting Season’.

My colleague Patrick Poke is working with dozens of Livewire contributors to ensure we have coverage on many of the companies we know are of interest to our readers. We’ve also got feature episodes of Buy Hold Sell in the pipeline and some feature articles from popular contributors.
Benefit: All reporting season content in a single location.
Tip #2 - The Reporting Season Monitor
The FNArena Reporting Season Monitor has developed a strong following and has become an essential resource for many Livewire Readers. The report is presented in a PDF format and provides a weekly update of companies results and if they beat, missed or came in line with consensus expectations.
Recent research from Richard Coppleson indicates that companies that beat expectations continue outperforming for months after their result.
“When pitted against the ASX200, the beats have performed strongly over the last six years, outperforming the index by 7.7%. Collectively, they beat the ASX200 100% of the time when measured over four months from when they reported.” (Source: The Coppo Report)
So, the report can be a potential source of ideas and a great way to keep track of your investments.
The FNArena Reporting Season Monitor will be published by Rudi Filapek-Vandyck each Friday afternoon during reporting season and will be included in Livewire’s Weekend Edition email.
You can see a sample report from Week 1 here and follow Rudi Filapek-Vandyck to be notified when the latest update is available.
Benefits: Concise format, valuable data on ‘beats and misses’, updated weekly on a Friday.
3) Set up alerts on the companies you care most about
Most Livewire readers are familiar with our popular Trending on Livewire Newsletter published Monday to Friday at 6:30 am and on Saturday at 7:00 am. However, we also provide subscribers with the option to set up Livewire Wrap up Emails. These are personalised emails with wires published by Contributors you follow or contain Funds and Listed Products you follow. You can control the frequency of these emails based on your preferences.
To manage your Wrap Up Email, simply navigate to the Email Preferences page via your account navigation.

To follow companies, type the stock code into the search bar on Livewire and look for the result for the Company page.

Once you have navigated to the Company page, hit the ‘follow’ button. You will now be notified when wires mentioning this company are published.
