Don Williams, CIO of Platypus Asset Management, has his money where his mouth is. The Paltypus Australian Equities Trust is currently 98.83 invested clearly reflecting Williams' recently published Bull Market Thesis. Positions in REA Group, Domino's Pizza and Breville drove overall return for February of approximately 7% compared to a return of around 4% for the S&P/ASX300. Activity during the month included buying in a number of big names including Oil Search, Fortescue, Incitec Pivot and Kathmandu. Williams notes an expected run in the banking stocks as they head into half year reporting and says he has been increasing/adjusting positions appropriately. On the smaller side of things Platypus has added junior oil producer Drillsearch to his portfolio. The catalyst for Drillsearch has been the increasing importance of its new wet gas resource. An asset Williams says will become of increasing value in the under supplied east coast gas market.
