Emerging gold play to watch, Gold Road Resources, this morning announced a maiden 3.84M oz gold resource at its Gruyere prospect in WA. Gold Road (ASX: GOR) is one of our long-standing emerging gold exposures. The company has maintained aggressive and focused exploration and appraisal activity with respect to its Yamarna Belt gold project, an underexplored gold region encompassing a vast 5,000 sq km area within Western Australia's Yilgarn Craton. Robust grades and extensive widths of mineralization are key features of the project area and this has translated directly into the release by the company this morning of its initial JORC-compliant resource estimate for its Gruyere prospect, comprising 96.93Mt at 1.23 g/t Au for 3.84 million ounces of contained gold. Gold Road's share price has firmed from a 12-month low of $0.043 during July 2013 to a recent high of $0.34 in Monday's trade - a surge of almost 700%.
