Emerging markets remain critical for Amcor’s success

Amcor Limited (ASX:AMC) finished the March quarter higher after a strong profit result for the half year, a result that highlighted the strength of AMC’s global packaging offer and the customer and regional diversity it brings. In particular, AMC reported solid volume demand in Europe and strong demand for drinks volume in the US and parts of Latin America. In recent years, emerging markets have been the key driver of volumes at AMC, so it is pleasing to see the larger, developed markets deliver some improved volumes. AMC continues to acquire bolt-on packaging businesses, particularly in emerging markets, noting a substantial acquisition in Latin America and small acquisitions in both India and China in recent periods. In Andrew’s last international role as Executive Director of UBS’s Financial Structuring Group in Hong Kong, he developed a range of complex structured finance solutions for clients across the bank's investment banking, fixed income and equities divisions to address issues faced by corporate clients.
Andrew started his career at Arthur Andersen where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, before which he tutored macro-economics at Monash University while completing his law degree.
Andrew has a Master of Applied Finance, a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics.
