How to trade oil and gold as geopolitical risks rise: Ole Hansen, Saxo Bank Head of Commodity Strategy. The slide in crude oil has been halted and gold has been given a new boost, but for how long? Saxo Bank Head of Commodity Strategy Ole Hansen says the oil market is torn between the short-term outlook of ample supplies over the next two months and the longer-term impact of continuing world tensions. Rising violence in Iraq and the US authorisation of air strikes have helped precious metals like gold to their three week highs. Hansen points out that while rallies have previously been seen over geopolitical concerns; the current weaker stock markets and bond yields are also giving support to alternative assets such as gold.
