Jim O'Neill, the ex-chair of Goldman Sachs Asset Management (and the main who first talked about BRIC countries) has now identified the MINT countries - Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey - as the emerging economic giants to watch. O'Neill says 1) they have really good inner demographics - meaning they are all going to see a rise in the number of people eligible to work relative to those not working. 2) They all have geographical positions that should be an advantage as patterns of world trade change. 3) Economically three of them - Mexico, Indonesia and Nigeria - are commodity producers.
