Livewire spoke with Dom Giuliano from Magellan during the week about a range of topics. Dom specializes in financials, so we couldn't resist asking him about how the Aussie Banks compare with their global counterparts. Dom said It really is a question of value versus growth for Australian banks. If you look at the growth equation for Australian banks, it's considerably more muted than the opportunity in the United States. The leverage that can take place amongst Australian households going forward over the next 5-10 years is significantly less than from back in 1995 to a couple of years ago so the opportunity for the Aussie Banks to benefit from the huge tailwinds from Australian households gearing up just aren't there as they were a decade or two decades ago. If you look at the pricing and valuation they are a little on the rich side. Watch:
