Look 'through the windscreen' for a better portfolio
In his most recent memo, Howard Marks took aim at passive investing, questioning a process that ignores both asset allocation and stock selection. In this short video, Martin Conlon, Head of Australian Equities at Schroders Australia, echoes this sentiment and also discusses how a forward-looking approach can provide performance: “As active investors, we say: This is the here-and-now, these are the profit streams and this is what we pay for them. What do we think this exercise looks like in 5 years, and can we build a portfolio better with a forward-looking, ‘through the windscreen’, approach to investing, rather than just on a static basis”.
