Market Update: On the back of another record high close for the Dow and S&P 500 last Friday night with the S&P 500 finished above 1,800 points for the first time ever, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.5% to 5,361 points. Financials were up with all the major banks moving as high as 0.5%. Resources also edged higher with BHP and RIO adding 0.3% and 0.2% respectively. Gold miners were the exception as spot gold was slightly lower. Newcrest was down 2.8% and Beadell Resources falling 7.0%. The AUD was lower trading at US$0.9161. The SPI was up 0.5% at 5,375 points on the Sydney Futures Exchange.
