Market Update: The S&P/ASX 200 climbed 0.8% higher to 5,324 following the US S&P 500 index closed at a record high overnight. Financials were up with the banks rising between 0.9% to 1.0%.Performance among the miners were mixed with BHP flat and RIO down 0.3%. Gold stocks were a standout following a 3% rise in the physical metal. NCM jumped 5.8% and PRU shot up 7.2%. The AUD rallied above US$0.9600 and it is currently trading at US$0.9622. The SPI was up 0.8% at 5,316 points on the Sydney Futures Exchange.
