My Sister the Investor
I have been visiting my sister in the Isle of Wight. She has retired there to a grandish apartment in a solid brick mansion with cosy furnishings, lush gardens and the invigoration of the crisp English air. Not to mention a cat or two. She has also decided to manage her nest egg on her own and somewhat to my surprise has accumulated a rather sensible array of maybe 10 or less investments which she vigilantly monitors. It does rather amaze me that someone with her complete lack of financial background has taken on this responsibility and has so far acquitted herself rather well and I put it down to a few things she has done that stand as a useful lesson to anyone trying to manage their retirement themselves.
