Neither side of American politics is budging just hours before a government shutdown begins. President Barack Obama said he's not at all resigned to a shutdown and will speak with congressional leaders today. However, the houses of Congress remain deadlocked with the Republican controlled House and Democrat controlled Senate remaining at loggerheads. The impasse has led to two days of consecutive falls on the US stock market, with the Dow Jones closing down 0.84% last night. A shutdown would have ramifications for US government services, with commentators warning that the highly anticipated monthly jobs report won't be produced on Friday. (VIEW LINK)
