Here’s a personal view of how I’ll be investing in 2016. Hint: the actors will change but the play will be exactly the same. It’s become something of an investment cliché – particularly at this time of year – to say ‘Prepare, don’t predict’. You don’t need predictions to be a successful investor and you should probably steer clear of those that make them. But you can prepare yourself for investment success in two main ways. First, make sure your portfolio is positioned to avoid significant problems. And second, make sure you’re mentally prepared and able to take advantage of buying opportunities when they appear. So here’s how I’m personally preparing for 2016, including a few stocks I have my eye on. I’m sticking to my investment plan I’ve refined my investment plan over time. It contains the types of stocks I prefer to buy (high quality ones) and those stocks or sectors I avoid (including resources and biotech, as well as a couple of other ethical factors I screen for).
