Overnight: US stocks wavered, as investors showed caution after the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 failed to hold above milestone levels in the prior session. Treasury prices dipped, paring back gains from recent sessions as the market looked for signs of when the Fed may begin to shift away from its accommodative monetary policies. Gold futures settled higher, getting back on track after its short winning streak was derailed a day earlier amid further indications from the Fed that the tapering of the bond-buying program would begin sooner rather than later. Oil futures orbited the $93-a-barrel level The UK's FTSE 100 index declined as investors paused for breath after a 3-day rally. European stock markets dropped, retreating from multiyear highs after a gauge of German economic confidence fell short of expectations. London BHP down 0.64%. Rio down 0.08%. New York BHP down 0.49%.
