Sydney siege could impact on some parts of the market with a number of potential losers and one possible winner. Those that could feel the negative impact from the hostage taking are consumer facing stocks as the crisis could give shoppers reason to think twice about going out and shopping during what is the most important period for retailers. Shopping center owners would also be impacted if foot traffic drops. The siege has robbed us of our innocence but could trigger increase demand for security equipment from police forces.
