The US capped off another strong week of economic news with a hefty drop in jobless claims. Initial claims fell 14,000 from a week ago to a total of 298,000. The important four-week average is right around 300,000, with the trend clearly headed downward. Moreover, last week's number decreased almost 12% from the same period last year. There's little doubt hiring has picked up this year, with job numbers finally approaching pre-recession lows. Given the strong jobs and housing numbers this week, along with the continued lack of inflation, it appears (once again) the US economy is in no danger of reversing its growth. (VIEW LINK)
