US Social investing gets Gerry Harvey wound up
US Social investing gets Gerry Harvey wound up. The SMH has been following an exchange between US investment website SumZero and Gerry Harvey. SumZero recently ran a competition seeking the best research on a short idea. The award was given to Sid Choraria from Singapore-based funds management firm APS Asset Management for his research on Harvey Norman. Needless to say Choraria delivers a scathing assessment of HVN and you can read the article from the SMH here: (VIEW LINK). It seems that the report has been like a red flag to a bull and Harvey has come out swinging in his response (VIEW LINK). He says, This guy is on a mission - we know where he's coming from - and we are entitled to refute his allegations or ignore him. The fact that Gerry has taken the bait says to me that either 1) As a seasoned operator Harvey adheres to the all publicity is good publicity adage or 2) That this analyst has hit a nerve an genuinely ruffled some feathers. Either way it has been an interesting exchange.
