Overnight we received the September FOMC meeting minutes. Apparent in the detail was robust confidence in the labour market, but growing unease on inflation. Without a robust underlying wages trend, the importance of the deflationary impact of offshore developments is exaggerated. We continue to believe that December will see the first US rate hike in nearly a decade, but the risks are to the downside. Next week we receive updates on Australian consumer and business confidence and the labour market.
