Echo Resources defined an extensive near-surface laterite gold zone extending over several hundred metres including a strike of 100 metres with mineralisation at 30-50 metres depth at the Julius gold prospect 55km south of the Jundee Mine in the Wiluna area of Western Australia. The results of the April drilling program included 12 metres at 8.27 g/t Au from 34m down hole. Evaluation of the potential for a toll treatment operation is underway. Results from a drilling program at the Latin Resources Illo Sur copper prospect in Peru showed only weak mineralisation in the prospective porphyry. The company is assessing other targets. Real Energy completed a five stage fracture stimulation program at its Tamarama-1 well at a depth of 2,300 metres. The well, in the Queensland part of the Cooper Basin, is designed to test Basin-centre prospective formations. The target is a potentially extensive play type which could materially alter the balance of east coast gas markets. Flow back and gas flow test results are expected in coming weeks.
