OceanaGold Corporation has reported intervals of gold mineralisation typically in excess of 100 meters from the upper portion of the Horseshoe gold deposit at Haile, South Carolina. Some drill intervals have yielded very high grades including 41.9 metres at 22.3 g/t Au (down hole interval from 223.3 metres). The results support company plans for a high grade underground mine augmenting an open cut mine currently under development. Comet Resources has reported the results of an air core drilling program at the Springdale graphite prospect 30km east of Hopetoun on the southern coast of Western Australia. Despite reporting some graphitic intersections, photomicrographs of the material and mineral studies reported that the alteration of clay minerals had broken the flakes reducing their size and anticipated metallurgical performance. Mustang Resources has commenced trenching and mapping at its Montepuez ruby prospect in Mozambique. The property is near a working ruby mine. Lucapa Diamond Company has commenced drilling 10 holes on the L259 hard rock kimberlite target defined by a coincident gravity and electromagnetic low.
