Buy Hold Sell: 5 plays on the consumer - WES, CTX, FLT + more...
The Australian consumer has faced no shortage of challenges recently, between layoffs in the mining sector and the general global malaise, it’s easy to be negative. The data paints a different picture, however, with retail sales up 4% year on year in January according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Perhaps more surprisingly, the ANZ Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence survey recently gave a reading of 116, well above the 108.9 long-term average. There are plenty of consumer-facing stocks on the ASX for investors to take a look at, with the consumer staples and discretionary sectors making up around 11% of the ASX 200 list. In this episode of Buy Hold Sell, we asked Phil Parker from Altair and Simon Bonouvrie from Cadence for their views on Wesfarmers, Caltex and Flight Centre. Also includes 2 consumer facing stocks they find attractive.
