Billionaire and Third Point hedge fund founder Dan Loeb plans to increase his investments in Japan. Third Point already holds a stake in Fanuc, one of the largest makers of industrial robots in the world. In fact, Fanuc has climbed 25% since Loeb announced his stake in the company. In Third Point’s investor call, Loeb said, “We are excited about potential investment opportunities in Japan”. Loeb is generally considered an activist investor and his fund already has 10% of its assets invested in Japan. In a recent letter to investors, Loeb told investors “Abenomics is working”. The results certainly support this statement, with the Nikkei 225 up 39% from this time last year. (VIEW LINK)
