European shares: The FTSEurofirst index fell by 0.1%, with the German Dax up less than 0.1% to record highs while the UK FTSE lost 0.2% Base metal prices were mixed on Wednesday. Lead fell the most, down 1.4%, with zinc and aluminium also lower while other prices rose up to 0.2%. Gold rose with the Comex futures price up by US$6.00 or 0.5% to US$1,201.50 per ounce. Iron ore fell by US50c to US$62.90 a tonne on Wednesday.
