Felix Stephen, Head of Strategy & Research at Advance Asset Management reports that, although volatility across all global markets are historically high, volatility in the S&P500 has actually declined. According to Stephens, the market currently has large short positions in the US volatility index (VIX) as well as gold, copper, silver, AUD and yen while being long crude oil, Nikkei, the US dollar and US equities. Stephen believes there is a positive tone emerging in bonds and equities, however, warns that investors need to be extremely cautious investing in these markets given the underlying uncertainty.
