Gold might be worth a look short-term

The safest place ultimately is bank deposits. But the trouble is that their yields are very low so if an investor doesn’t mind taking on some risk regarding the capital value of their investment there are some alternatives. For those focused on yield or income flow, stocks offering high and sustainable dividend yields are worth looking at – but you have to kick the tyres and make sure you stay away from value traps. Corporate debt – particularly investment grade – is reasonably attractive as is commercial property. I am not a long term gold bull, but it may also be worth a look at in the short term because if things do go off the rails global central banks will have to ramp up their stimulus even more which will add to the demand for a safe haven alternative to paper currencies.
