How emotions and personality are affecting your trading and investment: behavioural expert Gerald Ashley. Emotions and personality traits may get in the way of making the right trading decisions, behavioural expert and author Gerald Ashley explains the effects of anchoring, loss aversion and sunk cost bias. Ashley also warns that market participants tend to cut our profits too soon for fear of losing gains, and tend to run our losses too long with increasingly irrational behaviour such as increasing their investment in hope of balancing out losses. Ashley's tip: Make sure you have your trading plan written down, keep a daily journal and record your triumphs and disasters.
