Interstate migration from NSW has declined to the lowest level ever recorded according to the latest ABS Demographic Statistics. As the mining construction boom fades and transitions into the production phase, the states which benefited so greatly from the boom years (in particular Queensland and Western Australia) are seeing net interstate migration plummet, while the populations of Sydney and to a lesser extent Melbourne, are now exploding higher.
