Nick Griffin, the Head of International Strategy at K2 Asset Management has given his insights on the success of QE in the US and the predicted tapering of the program. Griffin thinks it would be fair to say that their strategy to date has worked. We think there's an 80% chance that the unwinding of QE will bring positive effects. He says that growth is starting to re-emerge, central bankers are keen to exit the stimulus because in the long run it's going to create problems. That's going to create some uncertainty but they're being very, very careful. Despite the risks, he is reassured as the Fed can always reverse the tapering if the economy slows again or financial conditions tighten beyond where they want them. Ultimately, they control the monetary system so they should be able to control the outcomes if they do it carefully.
