Positioning to profit out of Japan I have never been to Japan, I am not sure whether that makes me more or less credible to talk about its currency and stock market. Sometimes a view from afar is clearer than right in front of my eyes. On the 1st of October I blogged about the new short Nikkei position in the portfolio to go alongside our long Yen trade. Here is an update of how it is going so far, as you can see in the chart below stocks (yellow) have been weak particularly on Friday (3rd) as the Yen (white) has risen, giving us an early profitable spread on either side of our position which we expect to continue.
