The Australian sharemarket is remaining cautious ahead of CPI data to be released at 11:30am EST. The benchmark ASX200 index was up 18 points to 5035 this morning, on the back of a better than expected profit result from Apple which exceeded analysts' expectations on quarterly iPhone sales despite falling short on iPad sales. The HSBC flash PMI data out of China, which surveys small and medium enterprises, will also be watched closely given its past readings having moved the local currency and sharemarket.
