The debate about when the non mining activity on the east coast has switched from a discussion around when rather than if. Mike Smith yesterday indicated he thought that this level of activity could kick in within the next couple of months. Mr Smith said sparks of life were showing and greater borrowing was not far off as business confidence improved. We haven't yet seen that turn into real action and I do expect that to happen. My instinct is we will start to see this in the next two months. Increased drawdaons on capital projects are likely to drive employee/consumer confidence which filters through to the non mining industries. Full article here (VIEW LINK)
