The importance of a long-term view

Frank Villante, Chief Investment Officer at Celeste Funds Management says he has been "putting some money into the market" this week, but he acknowledges that the current volatility is "not likely to blow over all that quickly". "You have to be brave enough to say, 'I have this capital I need to invest and I don't know if today is the right day but I know that if I put a little bit in today and maybe a little bit tomorrow, I know that over a three- to five-year time horizon, if I'm buying something on what I think might be a third or half its true intrinsic worth, I know I'm probably going to be OK." It’s not always easy though: "you know the moment you do jump in, you will cop some flesh wounds." (VIEW LINK) (AFR subscription required)
