The outlook for the resources sector

Morgans Financial Limited
Chris Brown, Morgans Senior Resource Analyst, says last year he started getting calls from advisers and clients to ask about gold producers. However, more recently he has been fielding question at the smaller end of the market, with questions flowing in about explorers. He says investors should focus on commodities that have not yet had a run, rather than trying to pick out the best lithium, graphite or gold stock after the prices have appreciated significantly. He identifies base metals, especially copper and nickel, as having potential to run, though he emphasises the difficulty in calling the timing. He also likes mineral sands producers such as Illuka; his favourite in this space is Mineral Deposits (ASX:MDL). In this video, he discusses the upcoming Noosa Mining and Exploration Conference and the increasing interest in the resources sector over the last 12 months.
