The announcement that China was, in effect, open again late last year with the end to its hard-line stance on covid was met positively across the globe. We’re still yet to realise the full benefits of the return of China but there’s no question this will be one of 2023’s biggest themes.

While Munro sold out of its positions in China in late 2020, we’re starting to consider companies like Alibaba (HKG: 9988). While the Chinese government tightened business conditions during the covid pandemic, we believe we’re at the start of the cycle for looser policy again.

Companies within China are not the only beneficiaries of China reopening. In this podcast, I explore the key sectors to see a boost and discuss some of the companies we see potential upside in going forward.
