In a fascinating interaction at second Livewire Live investor forum last week, Geoff Wilson from Wilson Asset Management and Ben Griffiths from Eley Griffiths Group agreed that the worst could be over for mining services companies. Geoff Wilson went as far as saying that they had recently taken up positions in Southern Cross Electrical (ASX: SXE) and MACA (ASX: MLD). “The great thing about busts is that there’s always opportunities,” said Geoff Wilson. “Our team have just come back from a visit to WA. I’m not for one second advocating that it’s time to pile back into mining services companies, but I’m suggesting that the folder stays open,” said Ben Griffiths. Watch the video for their view on the sector, also includes an assessment from Crispin Murray, Head of Equities at BT Investment Management.
